  • What is Gwent now?

Gwent now is a community messaging system and engagement tool used by Gwent Police, Office of Police and Crime Commissioner and our partners to keep residents informed about crime and incidents in the community using the most update to date technology. 

  • Why are you asking for my information and interests?

By providing us with as much information as you can will allow us to tailor communications to your specific requirements.

  • How often will I receive messages?

You will only receive messages through your chosen communication channel of voice, email or text message. The amount of messages you receive will be based on your chosen location/s and the amount of activity happening in each of those locations. By having the ability to select your personal preferences on the ‘My Interests’ page means that you can reduce the amount of messages you receive to only those that you wish to be notified about.

  • How will I know that the messages are from Gwent now?

All Gwent now messages will be sent using the secure UMS Alert system and will have clear Gwent now branding.

  • I am a returning user to Gwent now. How do I log back in?

Whenever you need to sign in to the Gwent now system, you will need to log back on to the Gwent now webpage where you will need to complete a short 2 step process. Firstly you will be asked to input either your email address or mobile number and depending on the channel you provide, you will then receive a unique 4 digit code. Once you have pressed ‘Sign in’, please input this 4 digit code and press ‘Login’. You will then be taken to the Gwent now Profile where you will be able to update your details using the tabs provided.

  • Can I cancel my subscription?

You may wish to cancel your subscription to Gwent now at any time by visiting the terms and conditions page and clicking the button ‘Delete my profile’. Alternatively you also have the option to update your communication preferences using the ‘My profile’ page. Here you will be able to modify your settings, alter the types of messages that you receive and change your preferred communication channel.

  • Will I need to be logged onto the internet to use the system?

Yes to register or log on to the system, you will need to have access to the internet. Alternatively you may wish to get a friend or family member who does have access to register for you.

  • Can I share the messages I receive with friends and family?

These emails/alerts are not confidential and you may be able to share the information you receive. In addition, you may wish to encourage friends and family to sign up to Gwent now so they can also receive instant messaging alerts. They can do this by clicking here.

  • Gwent now does not appear to be compatible with my browser, what can I do?

Gwent now is compatible with the following browsers IE9, IE10, IE11, Firefox and Chrome. Please ensure your browser is updated for the latest security features and enhanced user experience. Your browser may update automatically depending on your browser preferences.

  • PIN Registration - I am not receiving my PIN code when I enter my email address or SMS (Mobile Number) on the initial registration page?

Firstly, please ensure that you have entered your details correctly and allow up to 5 minutes for your PIN to be received. If you have still not received your PIN, please press the RESEND PIN button to generate a new one. NB. If you press RESEND PIN you will need to enter the latest PIN and not the old code from your original request.

  • I have recently moved house, how do I change my details?

Log in to Gwent now using your 4 digit PIN and click on the page ‘My Profile’. Here you will be able to amend any personal preferences and edit your personal details. Once you have pressed ‘Save’, your details will then be updated.

  • Is there a joining fee?

No, subscription to Gwent now is free, no charges or fees will be incurred.

  • Can I report crime using Gwent now?
